Poverty, hunger, an epidemic of HIV/AIDS and lack of access to health care and education pose tremendous challenges to millions of South Africans. Generating income through artistry provides a critical source of self-expression and dignity, as well as income, to individuals who very often live in overcrowded township housing that lacks electricity and running water.
