Dreams become reality - with your help.

At eKhaya eKasi, Art Aids Art’s education center in Khayelitsha, South Africa, the circle of love is growing.

Kasi Eagle, a silkscreen business, began as the dream of eight ambitious individuals – Thando, Asanda, Nkosi, Vuyo, Amanda, Pearl, Nosipho and Nwabisa. With the support of our center, eKhaya eKasi, the dream has become reality. The owners of Kasi Eagle now are busily handscreening their first line of t-shirts and handbags. Local TV news covered the launch. Last week, a major supermarket supplier -- searching for a township-based screen printer -- placed the first bulk order of totes.  .

Like eKasi Eagle, other programs at eKhaya eKasi are expanding to meet local needs. The children’s after-school program is incorporating new art activities, the rooftop garden’ yielded its biggest harvest, and women in the Skills Development Program have developed innovative beadwork designs. By popular demand, the senior citizens program will resume next month.
